The President of GLK Corporation, Keith Cornehls, states that since 1995 the company has been supplying the restaurant industry with replacement headsets which support drive-thru and two-way radio communications.
About two years ago, one of its largest headset customers who owns more than 200 restaurants, asked if it could develop a better drive-thru system. GLK called on several dealers who have been servicing and installing drive-thru equipment for more than 25 years, for their help and ideas, and developed the Klear Order Communication System. This modular-designed system is powered by a radio brand that is well-known in the commercial communication industry for high-quality and rock-solid performance that allows in-store staff to easily understand and service our system, eliminating costly service calls. Best of all, it’s the only drive-thru communication system that will operate with or without headsets.
“One very cold, snowy evening, I thought my family would try curbside to-go service that is offered by so many casual dining restaurants,” Cornehls says. “I pulled up to the parking spot, waiting and waiting. Several minutes seemed to go by before I saw a person look out the window, then they came out and asked for our name, then ran back in for our food. After experiencing the inefficiencies of curbside to-go service, I started to think that there had to be a better way to do this. Since our drive-thru communication system had an incredible two-mile-plus radio range, we decided to incorporate this technology inside a rugged weatherproof communication post using a sensor that detects drive-up customers, and developed the industry’s first wireless order/pick-up communication system that is quick and easy to install, and will operate on rechargeable gel-cell battery or A/C power source.”
The Kurb Zide Service communication system allows the pick-up customer to talk directly to the food runner, and then pull forward to the special parking area. Restaurants with the Kurb Zide Service communication system improve customer satisfaction by immediate communication and offering early arrivers with a complimentary coffee or beverage. Customers are made aware of special promotions and can easily add items to their existing order, increasing check total.
For more information, the Kurb Zide Service Communication system is on display at NRA booth 9010.
