It took nearly three years for Dyson to re-engineer the commercial hand dryer. The Airblade hand dryer uses Dyson’s patented digital motor (80,000 rpm faster than an Indy racing car) to dry hands in just 12 seconds. It produces a sheet of air travelling at 400 mph that squeegees water from hands ,and unlike other hand dryers doesn’t rely on evaporation from hot air to dry hands.
According to the NSF, the Airblade is the only hygienic hand dryer. To gain this accreditation, NSF states that a hand dryer must dry hands to 0.1 mg of retained moisture in less than 15 seconds, using clean, filtered air.
The Airblade hand dryer has also been accredited by the Royal Institute of Public Health and Dyson’s research into hand hygiene has been validated by the British Skin Foundation.
